Andy Lines’ Biographical Notes
Andy Lines, following his conversion at Iwerne Minister Scripture Union camps, served in the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment from 1979–88. As a lieutenant he commanded a reconnaissance troop of armoured vehicles before changing to Chieftain and then Challenger tanks. As a captain he was for a time Regimental Signals Officer and finally Operations Officer.
While serving in the Army, Andy was seconded to Operation Raleigh and led a team of 28 young people in bridge building, water improvement and medical work in remote jungle settlements in north-eastern Peru, helping refugees from the civil war. On leaving the Army, Andy studied at All Nations Christian College. Under the auspices of the South American Mission Society he went to Paraguay where he became the director of the Diocesan Bible Institute in Asuncin (CALEB), co-ordinating and teaching Bible courses for the churches’ lay and ordained leaders. He and his wife, Mandy, were also involved in teaching on biblical marriage principles. He taught the Bible at a bilingual Anglican school for pupils, staff and parents. He was ordained whilst pastoring the English-speaking congregation of St. Andrew’s, AsunciÛn.
Andy took over as General Secretary of Crosslinks in October 2000. He is married to Mandy and they have 3 children (Alex ’89, Zoe ’92 and Lizzie ’95). They live in New Malden, Surrey and attend Emmanuel Church, Wimbledon.
